The Sise Inn

Trails of ice on the floor, ghosts staring out the window, spirits trying to sit on your bed… all of this can be experienced at The Sise Inn.

The Sise Inn resides in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, and it has quite the atmosphere. This mansion was built in 1881 by John Sise, a very wealthy man wanting to build a home for his family. The inn was used as a private home until the 1930s, and then it was used for businesses like a doctor’s office, beauty parlor, apartments, a halfway house for the mentally ill, and a fashion shop.

Since many people have come and gone from this magnificent mansion, it’s no wonder why this building is so haunted; but Suite 204 is the most crept upon. 204 is on the third floor and is the hotspot for a couple of entities. They seem to enjoy throwing ice and leaving trails and piles of it in the hallway. They also like to play with the locks, much to the annoyance of the guests of the inn.

One night when there were no guests staying on the third floor, the desk clerk heard the ice machine on that floor being used. The clerk went up to the third floor and saw that there was a trail of ice leading from the ice machine, down the hall, and to Room 204. In the middle of the room lay a pile of ice, and no other human was seen on the third floor.

Very early in the morning, guests staying in 204 found that their key wouldn’t unlock the door. They called management but they couldn’t open the door either. They called a locksmith and after he arrived, the door opened with no trouble at all! It’s a recurring theme that ghosts love to play with locked doors.

Many maids have reported the spirit of a man that is quite the pervert. He tries to pull maids into closets, touches their shoulders, faces, arms, hands, and rear ends. Lots of maids have quit because of this handsy haunt. There is another ghost but he’s not quite so touchy. He is usually seen in military garb and staring out windows. He doesn’t bother anyone, but he likes to make his presence known by appearing to certain people for unknown reasons.
